A heavy yellow poisonous oily explosive liquid obtained by nitrating glycerol; used in making explosives and medically as a vasodilator (trade names Nitrospan and Nitrostat). Synonyms: glyceryl trinitrate, nitroglycerin, nitroglycerine, Nitrostat, trinitroglycerin.
