Showy tropical tree or shrub native to Madagascar; widely planted in tropical regions for its immense racemes of scarlet and orange flowers; sometimes placed in genus Poinciana. Synonyms: flamboyant, flame tree, peacock flower, Poinciana regia, royal poinciana.
