Coati  n.  (Zool.) A mammal of tropical America of the genus Nasua, allied to the raccoon, having a ringed tail but with a longer body, tail, and nose; called also coati mondi and coati mundi.
Synonyms: coati, coati-mondi, coati-mundi, coon cat, Nasua narica. Note: The red coati (Nasua socialis), called also coati mondi, inhabits Mexico and Central America. The brown coati (Nasua narica) is found in Surinam and Brazil.
